Stance & Style Pty Ltd. is a Queensland based footwear and clothing manufacturer that produces the brands Stance, Swimming with Sharks, Hopscotch and the ECO Range by Swimming with Sharks.

With collectively over 30 years experience as agents, sales representatives and developers for footwear majors, Janine Granger and Alan Smith began a highly successful company as footwear agents – Stance & Style. But disappointments within the industry led them to the thought of producing and developing their own range of shoes. The pair headed off to China to source factories and research manufacturing requirements, and in their words it was “…being in the right place at the right time.” Consequently Stance & Style Footwear was born.

Starting with a small collection and constantly building on it, their primary goal within the company was to create quality fashion footwear that is comfortable specifically for Australian feet.

The first brand Stance is the original label and adheres a concept that is based on foot placement. The design behind Stance is primary easy and basic footwear with style – hence Stance & Style.

This was 2001 and the pair haven't stopped. Twelve months after launching Stance, once it was trademarked worldwide they released the Swimming with Sharks label which was an instant player in its field. This was then followed by the contemporary label Hopscotch.

 

This year Stance are also launching their Eco Rangeby Swimming with Sharks, consisting of a range of shoes and sandals made totally from sustainable and recycled materials.

Over the last 10 years the company has gone from strength-to-strength and is now one of the major players in Australia's footwear industry. Along with directors Janine and Alan, they have permanent staff in their head office and showroom in Maroochydore Queensland, and China office including showrooms in all states in Australia, and representation in New Zealand. Over the next 12 months, they're aiming to source distributors in South East Asia, Europe and the United States.

Stance & Style have also branched into the development of footwear and clothing not only for their own labels, but commissioned by brand heavyweights Kawasaki and Yamaha to run lines of footwear, clothing and accessories. These have included jeans, jackets, t-shirts, towels and bags.

Despite being long-standing players in the footwear industry in Australia, this is just the beginning for Janine and Alan. With every new season, the ranges continue to increase – it seems that quality materials and aesthetically pleasing product reign supreme in the footwear industry.
